A downloadable stageplay for Windows, macOS, and Linux

A story about going to the theatre. And the play is kind of strange very avant-garde. So you feel badly about yourself. And then it all starts over. Phageplay Basic is a full length stageplay embedded in a not quite completely-kinetic visual-novelette. Created for toxic yuri jam 2 re: the theme "psychosexual trauma". Adult content, sex & conspiracy & discrimination &c... we'll just say 18+, ok? Alright.

Around 14k words, visually inspired by 1970s mainframe systems (like PLATO) and 'mechanically' inspired by text-parser novelties like Eliza (1966). From a literary point of view, inspired by the work of Sarah Kane. Also downloadable is the complete embedded stageplay, without the novelette frame story. It takes ~90 minutes to perform in real life (plus a 10 minute mandatory intermission) and requires six actors. If you'd like to stage the Phageplay IRL, send me a message!

Data on the config menu drawn from government sources and an NGO called Raising The Village.

To Colchis then I came / To night’s mistaken shame / Cowbell, spurs upon my side / Harnessed, terrible pain, throbbing / Under the pressure, under the knife.

truly excellent. left me with the same haunted feeling that i was left with as a college freshman reading that bit of The Waste Land with the typist and the expected guest. the allusions that i got were hilarious (navier-stroke defilade, à la mer, god...) and the many that i didn't are exciting knowing that i will have the lovely opportunity to get them in due time. a work that i immensely look forward to rereading in five years. remarkably musical language. thank you.

This was a really fun play to watch this way, though I am an absolute sucker for avant-garde theater done through a videogame. I liked the way the wordplay kind of washed over me but was still a very legible puzzle that was often very funny. The frame narrative was very real to the feeling of being dragged to a play like this, not getting it, not liking it, but still having it follow you home

played and read aloud over the course of two hours in what felt like a possession, the plain parts and the decorated parts making a very good idea of the scene, very playful with words and it's manner, the way that characters shift and morph position and tone

VERY interested in checking this out as a big sarah kane fan
